From the start, the idea was simple: get the right knowledge to the right person at the exact moment they need it.
From technical illustration to 3D visualization to AI-powered execution, we have spent four decades turning that belief into software. Canvas Envision traces its origins to 1986, when Deneba Systems created Canvas for Apple Macintosh, a product that became foundational to technical illustration and desktop publishing. Following Deneba's acquisition by ACD Systems, Canvas was spun out as an independent company, Canvas GFX, in 2017. In 2026, Canvas GFX relaunched as Canvas Envision, reflecting a decade of evolution from graphics software to visual execution for manufacturing.

Workers still rely on static PDFs, outdated binders, and tribal knowledge passed between shifts. The instructions guiding the most critical work in manufacturing are disconnected from the systems that created them and the people who use them.
That is not a training problem. It is an execution gap.
We connect what is designed to what gets built.
Your CAD data, documents, and videos become interactive visual instructions delivered at the point of work, on any device. Knowledge flows down to the worker. Data, feedback, and confirmations flow back up to engineering.
We call this Connected Knowledge. Not connected systems. Not connected hardware.
Over four decades, our software has supported technical and industrial work at some of the most demanding organizations in the world. Boeing, NASA, GE, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Collins Aerospace, Raytheon, Honeywell, Cyient, Azenta, Zipline, and OTIS.
That heritage spans aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, medical devices, energy, shipbuilding, and electronics.
The convergence happening in manufacturing right now leaves no room to wait. Experienced workers are retiring and taking decades of hard-won knowledge with them. Digital natives are arriving, and they will not learn the work from binders and static PDFs. AI is accelerating engineering faster than the floor can keep pace. Product and process have entered the modern era. The people who build, service, and support the equipment around us have been left behind.
Manufacturing cannot reach its full potential while the experts who know how the work is done stay disconnected from the people who have to do it. Closing that gap is how manufacturers compete, and it is how an industry that builds the physical world reaches everything it is capable of. We are convinced this has to change, and we are building the platform that changes it.
Canvas Envision captures what your best people know, connects it to the systems that engineer it, and delivers it to every worker at the moment they need it. We extend the digital thread to its last mile.
Canvas Envision is led by a team with decades in enterprise software, spanning PLM, 3D visualization, technical communication, and graphics engineering. Together they have built the products, scaled the businesses, and shaped the platforms manufacturers depend on, and they bring that experience to closing the gap between what engineering knows and what the workforce can execute.
Garth leads Canvas Envision with the conviction to change how manufacturers capture, share, and execute the knowledge their best people carry. With nearly three decades bringing enterprise software to market and growing it through every phase of the customer journey, his expertise runs deep in CAD, PLM, and 3D as an effective communication medium. At Dassault Systèmes, he helped establish 3DVIA Composer as the major growth vector of the emerging 3DVIA brand and led its enterprise strategy, turning engineering data into visual instructions a workforce can use. He then brought cloud SaaS PLM to the mid-market under the ENOVIA brand, laying the foundation for the mid-market 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud, before leading global brand marketing and the generative AI council. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from McMaster University and an MBA from Babson College, earned summa cum laude.

Phil leads the engineering, architecture, and AI behind the Envision platform and Evie, drawing on more than 30 years in graphics software. He worked on the very first version of Canvas for Windows and personally built the advanced 2D rendering engine that still sits at the heart of the product today. Leading software development and R&D at former Canvas parent companies Deneba Software and ACD Systems, he managed a team of more than 20 engineers and was responsible for the entire Canvas product line. He holds three patents in graphics software and a BS in computer science and mathematics from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Today he brings that deep graphics foundation to Evie, the agentic AI that turns engineering data into manufacturing work instructions.
